I have one of these on my DPMS LR 308 lower and I want to get the barrel off (I have the appropriate wrenches and vice etc.), but I just wanted to check on the hand guard first.
I know the tube unscrews from the nut, but there appears to be some sort of sealant or loctite oozing from the joint where the tube meets the nut. I was wondering if anyone has any experience taking these off and knows whether or not I will need to heat the area or just man up and torque it.
Any insight is appreciated, I intend to send the barrel to ADCO to get it cut down to the lightest safe profile I can.
